INT. EARLY MORNING SEATTLE WASHINGTON 8:15 AM
It is mid-morning on a brisk Monday in Seattle, Washington. The leaves on the trees are just starting to showcase their new wardrobe of amber and gold hues. The wind is blowing ever so slightly, and the only noise in the small neighborhood is the street sweeper, in a useless attempt to remove the persistent leaves falling in paths already swept.
In the modest house on the corner of Brickfield Drive. Baby Emily is awake in her crib, her soft cries growing louder as Michael (her father) puts his pillow over his head.

MICHEAL[WISPERING]
Please go back to sleep…please, please please.
Emily is crying louder, shaking the gates of the crib. Michael gets out of bed, goes into Emily’s room, and quats in front of the crib.
MICHEAL
[speaking softly]
Good morning, sunshine. I thought you and daddy were sleeping in today.
You know daddy got in late this morning and needs one more hour.
Emily continues to scream, plops down in the crib kicking
MICHEAL
Ok…ok…you win. Daddy’s going to get you up.
Michael picks Emily up, sticks a pacifier in her mouth, and lays her on the changing table.
MICHEAL
Are you missing mommy? (Emily wiping her tears} Today is mommy’s big
day, she’s going to get a big promotion. That’s right, sweetie. We’re going to
go and get flowers, make dinner for mommy, and surprise her when she gets home.

MICHEAL
[opens door]

Good morning, Mr. Floyd; how are you doing this morning?
MR. FLOYD
I was fine until that darn street sweeper came through and drug.
My leaves are all down through the neighborhood. I was going to sack
Up, now I have to re-rake and sack up. I was wondering if you had any trash bags.
MICHAEL
No, sir, sorry, I don’t. I’m paying someone to rake my
leaves, so I didn’t even bother to purchase any.
MR FLOYD
You pay me, and I will take them, [laughing]
MICHAEL [laughs]
I’ve hired someone already. Thanks for the offer, though.
MR. FLOYD
Well, you have a good day, son. Hey…where is that pretty
wife of yours. I hadn’t seen her around lately.
