Big Ups to YOUTUBE

I’m so proud of YouTube… I’m grinning as if I have kids. Or you’d think YouTube had just given me a personal loan. I gave them big ups when I read the changes they were making in children’s content on YouTube. Media is changing so fast, and our little ones are streaming by the time they are one and want to stream independently not far long after that. I have nieces and nephews who are YouTube junkies. That is fine because I am too. One of those kids is 10 years old and totally uncensored. But what can you do when the parent doesn’t require restrictions purposefully? I disagree with it. But I do try to disallow any inappropriate content while in my presence.

YouTube has decided to treat anyone watching children’s content as if they were a child. I might pass by a cartoon or two or follow a few content creators that are children, but I don’t have a problem with that. It only means I would have to go in manually and adjust my settings. That is not something a child would necessarily know how to do. Also, if you are a content creator, you are required to let them know your content falls in the children’s category. This is important because they are now limiting the ads and eighty-sixing the comments and notifications. Although I don’t have kids, this means a great deal to me. I don’t feel there is a need to comment on a children’s video. Sometimes when you read those comments, they are so evil it’s ridiculous.
YouTube is starting a campaign to promote YouTube Kids. They are also changing what channels can take part. So not all creators will be able to list their content under YouTube Kids. This may be an issue for some people who believe their content is kid friendly. But if you have many followers, they will follow you into any category.
