This interview features Beverly Wade, an Arkansas Department of Health employee. Beverly’s
commute to work is 30 minutes one way. My intent was to interview someone who was not working from home and did not necessarily work close to the job. With gas prices continuing to increase, I assumed the high price of gas would have a greater effect on someone who lives further away from their job, than one who’s commute is only several minutes away. Although we can adjust the food we eat and cancel our Netflix or Hello Fresh subscription services, we cannot escape the amount of money we are pouring down our gas tanks. We also cannot go without our diabetes medication or medical services. We have had to find clever ways to minimize the dent that these increasing costs are having on our wallets. Although some prices remain steady, it only takes the increase in one vital necessity to put us over the edge. Some individuals are being forced to ask themselves, what is essential ...and what can I live without.”
This is Beverly’s story.
